Rio Vista Elementary School is a neighborhood school located in the North Hollywood community. We are a Pre-Kinder through Fifth grade school on a traditional calendar that serves a diverse community of approximately 400 students.
Through the dedication and hard work of the teachers and staff at Rio Vista Elementary School, the students have continued to make tremendous academic growth as evidenced in the California Academic Performance Index (API ). Rio Vista Elementary School has a strong GATE Program (Gifted and Talented Education) as well as being designated a School for Advanced Studies (SAS).
The education of the students at Rio Vista Elementary School is enhanced by the many exciting programs available to the students outside the classroom setting. These include the general music program for grades K – 3 and the instrumental program for grades 4 – 5; Arts Prototype, which includes dance, theater and visual arts; technology classes and garden projects in the Hidden Garden located in the park next to the school.
Parental involvement is an integral part of every child’s education. We welcome all parents to get involved at Rio Vista Elementary School. Some of the opportunities for involvement include the Parent Center, the PTA and the parent advisory committees. Rio Vista is devoted to having its parents be an active part of the school community.
I look forward to working with all the students and parents to continue the many successes of the school site. I encourage you to visit the school and see first hand the many programs and opportunities available to our students. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have.
