LA's BEST — Better Educated Students for Tomorrow — is a nationally recognized after school education, enrichment and recreation program serving more than 21,000 children with the greatest needs and fewest resources throughout the City of Los Angeles. LA's BEST After School Enrichment Program provides a safe haven for children, ages 5 to 12, at 130 elementary school sites each day during the critical hours after school — at no cost to parents. Established in 1988, LA's BEST is a partnership including the City of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Unified School District and the private sector. This program provide after school care until 6:00 p.m. on a space available basis.
Youth Services After-School Playground program
The after-school playground program is provided by the Los Angeles Unified School District’s Students Auxiliary Services Branch as an additional resource for the community. This program is designed for those students capable of independently traveling to and from the playground, and provides the opportunity to voluntarily participate in organized games and activities. Students must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with the rules and regulations of the school. After school supervision is from dismissal to 5:30 p.m. from grades 1-5.
